Instead of receiving certain emails in the inbox, you can customize a filter so that emails from your work contacts go directly to the “Work” folder, for example, or those emails from friends you don’t want to be displayed in the inbox.

Follow these steps to create folders.
1. Go to Options >More Options> Manage Rules
Now you can set up filters or inbox “rules” to put messages into certain folders as they arrive.
You can create, for instance, an “Office” folder and set up a filter so that emails from Windows Live Messenger contacts go to that folder directly.
